Buying a villa in Davenport
So where exactly is Davenport?
Like Kissimmee, the actual town centre of Davenport, located on South Orange Blossom Trail and some 20 miles south of Walt Disney World (WDW), is only a small part of the sprawling and seemingly never-ending sub-divisions that form its postal boundaries. Indeed, virtually all the sub-divisions that spread out on either side of the US27, heading south from the junction with the US192 and almost to Haines City, are part of the city of Davenport. This area has the reputation of being the highest concentration of new home building in the entire USA - Phew!. Esprit, Lake Davenport, Highlands Reserve, Westridge, West Haven, The Sanctuary, Pines West, Calabay Parc and countless other fine developments form this, possibly the highest concentration of rental properties anywhere in the WDW area.
Is Davenport a better area to buy in than Kissimmee?
It is different, not better or worse. Davenport does tend to be a little cheaper and the taxes are fractionally lower. However, the theme parks are just a few miles further away (an extra 5-10 minutes drive) and there is less in terms of shopping and restaurants. This is changing repidly, though, with, for example, the opening of the Posner Park retail development at the junction of the I-4 and US27 and the unbelievable new development that is Reunion. Make no mistake, Reunion is huge. Encompassing several sub-divisions, shops, restaurants, no less than three signature golf courses and its own 11 acre water park, Reunion has certainly put Davenport on the map.
Other exciting devlopments, such as; Providence, another new golf community on the Orange Blossom Trail and Watersong, just a mile further south make Davenport a great place to invest and a future to look forward to.
